WHERE IT ALL STARTED

The Bafaw Cultural and Development Association (BAFCUDA) USA is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Bafaw people of Cameroon. We are an American network of Bafaw individuals and organizations committed to ensuring that the Bafaw traditions, language, and values are passed down to future generations.

ACHIEVEMENTS IN USA

What we've done in our local community

Recognizing the vital support received from generous donors, BAFCUDA USA is committed to "Giving Back" to its local communities within the United States. We believe in strengthening the bonds that connect us, and in expressing our gratitude through tangible actions. Therefore, we're initiating programs and initiatives designed

to directly benefit the areas where our members live, fostering a spirit of reciprocity and community enrichment.

Understanding the central role of family and children in Bafaw culture, BAFCUDA USA chose to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We believe investing in the health and well-being of children is essential for building a strong future, reflecting our cultural values and commitment to community support.

Recognizing the fundamental importance of food security, BAFCUDA USA, through its Greater Washington chapter, addressed local hunger issues. They volunteered at First Fruit Farms, contributing to the production of nutritious food for those in need, and further extended their support by serving meals at Shepherd's Table. This initiative reflects the Bafaw principle of Mulataku Ndi'nginya—Unity is Strength, acknowledging that true community unity cannot exist amidst hunger.

ACHIEVEMENTS IN CAMEROON

What we've done in the Bafaw community

BAFCUDA USA has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to improving the lives of the Bafaw people in Cameroon. Through these impactful initiatives, BAFCUDA USA continues to make a significant difference in the lives of the Bafaw people and contribute to the overall development of Cameroon. Our initiatives span various sectors, including:

Community Development
  • In 2016, BAFCUDA USA organized a Project & Development Financial Assistance Ceremony at the Kumba Traditional Council Hall. The event recognized and supported seven outstanding individuals with financial grants, fostering community development and individual empowerment.

  • Recognizing the critical role of healthcare, BAFCUDA USA donated ten autoclaves to the Kumba Regional Hospital in 2020, significantly enhancing the hospital's ability to provide safe and effective patient care.

Cultural Preservation

BAFCUDA USA actively supports cultural development projects, such as the ongoing renovation of the Bafaw Heritage Museum and Resource Center in Kumba. This initiative aims to preserve and showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Bafaw people for future generations.

Educational Support

In response to the ongoing crisis in the region, BAFCUDA USA has launched an outreach program to provide educational opportunities for children in Njanga and Dieka villages who have limited access to formal schooling. This initiative will establish community schools and provide essential resources like teacher incentives, school supplies, and basic infrastructure.

Community Building

BAFCUDA USA is currently spearheading a fundraising campaign to build a Civic Center in Kumba. This multi-purpose facility will serve as a hub for education, community outreach, business development, and cultural events, fostering a stronger and more vibrant community.
